Rockingham Mug
A large green-ground mug (12.5cm. ht.) made at the Rockingham factory near Malton in c.1835. The moulded scroll handle has, as its terminal, a horse's hoof and painted on the front is a landscape view showing the London to York mail coach.

The main vignette is flanked by a bouquet of flowers on one side and the gilt monogram J.L on the other.
On the inside rim is a gilt border of scrolling flowers and husks.
The mug was purchased at the Boothman/Smallwood sale, Christies, April, 1990.
