Mothers Day Concert and Afternoon Tea at Fairfax House
Photocall Opportunity: Mother and daughter sample afternoon tea in The Red Saloon House at Fairfax on Friday 26 February at 10.30am in preparation for the special Mothers Day concert
For the first time Fairfax House will be opening its doors on Mother’s Day for a special afternoon concert (Sunday 14 March).
The Red Saloon will be transformed into a music hall and visitors will be entertained by soprano, Jessa Liversidge and pianist, Malcolm Maddock, (both from York Musical Theatre Company) who will perform a selection of well-known favourites from musicals and films. The concert will be followed by a special afternoon tea including scones, jam, cream and cakes served in the House.
Hannah Phillip, the new Director at Fairfax House said the afternoon tea concert was one of a series of events this year for local people as well as visitors to the City, giving them a chance to relax and enjoy various activities in the stunning surroundings of the House. She added: “We are delighted to be able to host this Mother’s Day concert as one of our first events. This is a perfect Mother’s Day gift and we do hope families and friends will enjoy celebrating in style.”
The event takes place from 3.30pm to 5.30pm on Sunday 14 March. Tickets are £16.00 (£14.00 for Friends of Fairfax House and York Civic Trust members) which includes glass of Bucks Fizz on arrival and afternoon tea served following the concert. They are available from Fairfax House in Castlegate during normal house opening hours or on 01904 655543.
