Motorcycling and Lord Fairfax of Cameron
Lord Fairfax of Cameron shares stories about his extraordinary travels.
Lord Fairfax of Cameron will be sharing his story about the extraordinary 7,500 mile journey from Vladivostok on the Pacific coast to St. Petersburg in the East, to raise money for Russian charities.

‘The White Night’s Ride’ which is the film documentary showing this journey, will be shown on Saturday 23 September, 3pm at the National Centre for Early Music in York and Lord Fairfax will also be present to talk about this experience.

"The idea of this epic journey came about by chance", said Lord Fairfax. "My interest in motorcycling and my concern about the plight of Russian children seemed to crystalise in this mamouth challenge when the bikes and support vehicle were very kindly loaned by BMW."

"We encountered every imaginable difficulty", he said, "roads which were
non-existent, huge detours caused by extreme weather conditions and disasters where riders fell victim to freak accidents. By the end of the journey these challenges were curiously commonplace."

The title, ‘The White Night’s Ride’ takes its name from the short summer nights of Northern Russia, where the sun never sinks far below the horizon.

Lord Fairfax continued: "I am delighted to be giving this presentation to anyone interested in our journey. There is a common bond between the Fairfax family and the people of York which stretches far back to mediaeval times and I am privileged to be asked to come up to York on this occasion.”

Tickets are available at Fairfax House, Castlegate, York during opening hours or can be reserved by telephone on 01904 655543.
