Flog It at Fairfax
BBC 2's Flog see some of the treasurers at Fairfax House.
The ‘Flog It’ antiques team will be filming at Fairfax House. There will be a photo opportunity at 11.30am on Tuesday 28 November.
The BBC’s popular antiques programme ‘Flog It’ will be filming at Fairfax House on Tuesday 28 November and finding out more about some of the House’s treasures.
Led by presenter Paul Martin and his team of experts, the Floral Marquetry cabinet with its 19 secret drawers and two mid-eighteenth century Chippendale chairs will be their focus for the ‘special interest’ section of the programme.
Paul Martin said: “I’m really excited to have discovered the cabinet with its superb floral marquetry. Also the outstanding Chippendale chairs, which on the surface look identical, but on closer inspection, we uncover some very subtle differences. "
Fairfax House Museum Director, Peter Brown, will also reveal some surprising secrets hidden in the designs for the ceilings.
Peter Brown commented: “We are delighted to welcome ‘Flog It’ to York and for Fairfax House to receive the national profile that it truly deserves. Noel Terry’s collection of furniture and clocks is beginning to be recognised as one of Britain’s greatest treasures.”
Fairfax House will be open from 11am and visitors will have the opportunity to watch the TV crew in action.
The ‘Flog It’ programme, featuring Fairfax House, will be broadcast on BBC 2 early next year.
