Are You Sitting on a Fortune?
Have your treasures valued at special Bonhams Auctioneers event.
Photocall: There will be a photo opportunity on Friday 2nd May at 10am with Peter Brown and staff who have been rummaging around for their own treasures that they will be taking along to the Bonhams Valuation event.
Have you ever wondered if some of your family heirlooms have any value? Now is the chance to find out and ask the experts.
The Friends of Fairfax House and York Civic Trust for the first time are hosting an informal ‘Antiques Roadshow’ valuation event with Bonhams Auctioneers on Friday 16 May from 10.30am to 2.00pm at the Friend Meeting House, Off Castlegate, York.
This event is open to members of the public and it is hoped that they will take advantage of having such expertise on their doorstep. Peter Brown, Director of Fairfax House commented: “The Bonhams team of experts are expecting to make some important discoveries and would relish any challenges we can offer them.
“They are looking for a whole variety of unusual or quirky objects, paintings and watercolours hopefully with a York connection but not necessarily. In particular there will be ceramics expertise in the team of valuers. This is the opportunity to discover more about what is in your attic!”
Tickets cost £5 and must be purchased in advance of this event from Fairfax House in Castlegate. There is a valuation fee of £2 per object which will be charged on the day.
The auctioneers, Bonhams, have close associations with York Civic Trust and Fairfax House and were recently one of the major sponsors of Rode Hall ceramics exhibition.
The Fairfax House 2008 season runs from Saturday 9 February through to 31 December 2008 (closed 24, 25, 26 December for Christmas). The new season’s brochure is now available from Fairfax House, Castlegate, York. Alternatively go to www.fairfaxhouse.co.uk for more information.
