Fairfax House provides its volunteers with training that enables them to fulfil their roles with confidence. Volunteers who wish to become Room Hosts will have access to a structured training programme in which they will not only learn about the house and the Fairfax family but will also develop the skills and approaches required in engaging with the public and enabling our visitors to get the most out of their time in Fairfax House. The programme is comprehensive, enjoyable and rewarding:

Our next round of Volunteer Room Host training will begin on 31st July 2017 and will be held over eight sessions on Mondays and Thursdays. Fairfax House also provides opportunities for on-going development including information seminars and two volunteers’ meetings held each year. We organise for special guest lecturers at each of these meetings who cover a fascinating and broad range of topics related to eighteenth century Britain and the history of Fairfax House.
