An exhibition of sugar novelties and sweetmeats that provided the final part of the meal in the 17th century.
In the 17th century the word ‘banquet’ meant the final part of the meal and consisted of hugely expensive novelties made from sugar. This exhibition charts the
evolution of these exotic sweetmeats and the objects used to present them at table. The display will feature loans from
national and local collections.
