Popular films shown during the war years

Silver Screen 2010 turns to film from the golden age of cinema and evokes the time when Fairfax House was more simply known as St George’s. Marking the 70th anniversary of Dunkirk, six of the best cinematic masterpieces of the early 1940s will be screened: a film either made or released for each year of WWII.

This line-up of moving pictures features some of the most evocative storylines, star studded casts, and all the romance, drama, humour and suspense that film-makers of Hollywood and Britain could bring.

This film was ground-breaking and went on to become one of the most popular animations of all time. Fantasia is a delight for both young and old – a film for all the family.*
