To the west of the city lie two of the most important houses built in York during Victorian times. Mill Mount House, now All Saints School, dates from the middle of the nineteenth century. The architects were J.B. and W. Atkinson, who some years later built the next house we visit, Nunthorpe Court, a grand house with an imposing drawing room, retaining all its principal features. Both properties ceased to be private houses when they were bought in 1920 by the education authority and Nunthorpe and Mill Mount Grammar Schools founded. Several of our members who attended
these excellent grammar schools will be with us to add their reminiscences. We conclude with refreshments.
Meet at All Saints School, reached by Mill Mount Lane from The Mount. There is limited parking at All Saints, but ample space at
Millthorpe.
