HOUSEKEEPER

As the Housekeeper at Fairfax House, you will play a key part in the presentation and care of a nationally significant collection and outstanding Georgian townhouse. Cleaning and presentation will be your primary focus and you will therefore have a keen eye for detail and ensure the utmost care is given to  ensuring the conservation of this truly unique house and collection.

We welcome applications from organised, enthusiastic individuals, who may not previously have had experience within a historic house or museum but who are skilled and experienced in cleaning, are practical and ‘house-proud’ by nature, have a can-do attitude and above all are inherently careful, co-ordinated and sure-handed.

This is a part-time, permanent post working 10 hours per week, generally Monday to Friday with the need for flexibility. This post can also be offered as a job share.

WEEKEND VISITOR SERVICES ASSISTANT

A vacancy has arisen for a weekend Visitor Services Assistant. This job involves delivering outstanding customer care for all visitors at Fairfax House from their arrival through to their departure. You will be the first point of contact for our visitors, delivering a warm engaging welcome to the museum. The post holder will also be responsible for providing excellent customer service, selling admission and events tickets, effectively promoting the Gift Aid on Entry admission scheme, assisting customers with sales in the Museum Shop, undertaking merchandising, telephone enquiries , and actively engaging in general retail activities to maximise the shop’s income and profitability.

This is a part-time, permanent post working 13 hours per week, Saturdays and Sunday.  There will also be opportunities for working additional hours during the week and for evening events.

FACILITIES ASSISTANT

As the Facilities Assistant you will assist with the myriad of practical tasks that are involved in keeping a historic house museum running smoothly. You will help give Fairfax House the care and attention it needs behind the scenes, to ensure the upkeep of one of the finest eighteenth-century townhouses in England. Day-to-day tasks will vary greatly  You’ll turn your practical hand to all sorts of general upkeep activities and minor maintenance ensuring all our facilities are kept in good working order. Public engagement is a key part of what we do at Fairfax House, and as Facilities Assistant you will also help support the use of the property for events and special functions.
