Join us for a special roundhouse evening event to celebrate the opening of Keeping up with the Georgians: Celebrity, Society & Satire. The event is hosted in collaboration with the launch of the newly formed York Research Unit for the Study of Satire and will also coincide with the 2020 reopening of Fairfax House following annual conservation work and extensive ceiling renovations.

As well as the first chance to visit the exhibition, featuring prints by renowned eighteenth century satirist James Gillray, there will be an array of fun things to see and do throughout the evening. You can also take the opportunity to learn about the history of satire from Drs Adam Smith and Jo Waugh (hosts of the Smith & Waugh Talk About Satire podcast), Dr Olivia Ferguson (Birkbeck University) and Associate Professors Claire Hind and Rob Edgar (YRUSOS). Refreshments will be provided, including a potent eighteenth century punch!

Limited free tickets are available. Follow the link to book your place and find out more: https://bit.ly/2HxWb1o
