The Genius of Grinling Gibbons

2021 marks the 300th anniversary of the death of Grinling Gibbons, one of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries’ most renowned crafstmen.

In this tercentenary year, Fairfax House joins the nation in commemorating the extraordinary talents of Grinling Gibbons with a display of his work which celebrates the master craftman’s ties to York – including the magnificent King David Panel.

Included with general admission to Fairfax House.

The King David Panel was saved from international export and sale in March 2017 thanks to the gracious support of the Heritage Lottery Fund, Art Fund (with a contribution from The Wolfson Foundation) and the V&A Purchase Grant Fund as well as many other trusts, foundation and individuals.
