Please note: the event is available to book for Friends of Fairfax House only.

Following a generous donation from the Friends, as a thank you we are delighted to be able to reveal the restored Victorian gilt frame, which reunited with its original artwork, is now once again displayed in the house after years stored away in very poor condition.

Curator Dr Sarah Burnage will discuss the journey of discovery around the artwork itself, which once attributed to Etty, we now know is a work by James Sant R.A. entitled ‘Emblems of Love’. You will also get the unique opportunity to hear from fine art conservators Francis and Giuseppe Downing, who completed the work, and discover the process and techniques involved in restoring such a delicate and decorative object. Other works in need of conservation will also be brought out from storage, and they’ll be the chance to vote for the worthiest candidate to receive future conservation.

Includes wine and canapes.
