Just how many mice are hiding at Fairfax House? Count them all up for the chance to win some of your own!

This year, our Townmouse Christmas exhibition is back and bigger than before – with hundreds of merry mice taking over Fairfax House!

As you head through the house, you’ll find our mousey guests swinging from the ceiling, bursting out of drawers, and causing general havoc whilst they play amongst our festive Georgian decor.

But how many are there? Count them all up as you head through the house – if you get the correct number, you could win a prize!

The Mouse Count runs alongside our Townmouse Christmas exhibition, and is included in entry. You just need to bring along a pencil (or they are available to purchase in the shop). Click here to find out more details about the Townmouse Christmas exhibition.

FAQs

What do I win?

If you guess the correct number of mice, you’ll be entered into a prize draw to win two mice for sale in our shop. If you win the draw, you’ll be contacted via email or phone (this will be some time in January). You’ll be able to choose your favourite mice, subject to availability and then either collect them or they will be posted to you.

Do I need to bring anything?

You’ll need to bring along a pencil if you want to count the mice – please note that pens are not allowed. If you do not have a pencil they will be available to purchase for 50p in the shop. You will receive a competition form upon entry which can be used as a tally sheet.

How do I enter?

The Mouse Count is included in the general admission cost. You can find out prices and pre-book your tickets here.

How obvious will the mice be to spot?

Some will be harder to spot than others – however you will not need to touch or move anything to spot a mouse – all will be out on open display, having fun!

I have a return ticket from a previous visit – do I need to pre book or pay?

You do not need to pre-book if you don’t wish to, or pay anything extra to complete the Mouse Count (although please note it is one entry per person, and repeat entries will not be valid). Please remember that you must bring along with you a signed year ticket – unfortunately we will not accept any other form of proof. You may be asked to replicate your signature and/or show proof of ID.

How long can I stay for?

A normal visit takes up to an hour and there is no limit on how long you can stay for – although we do close at 4:30pm.

Where do I post my competition entry?

At the end of your visit there will be a box for your to post your competition entry into. Winners will be contacted individually soon after the competition ends.
