The Jacobean oak buffet was bought in 1939

The Jacobean oak buffet (1610) in the hallway was bought in 1939 by the American William Randolph Hearst. It was on board a ship ready to sail to America when the order came through that all cargo that was not essential had to be unloaded. Off came the buffet. WRH decided he no longer wanted it and it was bought by Noel Terry.
