Devotees of Georgian period drama such as Poldark and The Duchess can enjoy insider insights from two expert advisors to popular Georgian period dramas on television and the silver screen at Fairfax House in York this Thursday (30 November). As historical advisors to a wide range of A-list TV shows and films including Gunpowder, Poldark, The Duchess, and The Scandalous Lady W, historians Hannah Greig and Hallie Rubenhold will offer anecdotes about their experiences of the period being translated onto the screen, along with other insights into the rich eighteenth century. Slip between the covers and join them in conversation to get behind the sensational stories and colourful characters that line the pages of their books and for a signing of their latest publications.

You will also be able to enjoy the festive Georgian display, The Keeping of Christmas, and wander through the period rooms decked with evergreens and 18th-century decorations. Don’t miss the spectacular dining room display set with dessert and magnificent sugarwork table decorations. Mulled wine and mince pies will also be available in the Georgian Kitchen.
